Gavin Bellis is an elite sportsman having been a Paralympian in rowing and world champion and a National surfing champion. Having served for 11 years in the Army including deployments in East Timor and other international posts, Gavin was diagnosed in 2004 with Spinocerebella Ataxia. A degenerative nerological condition with no known cure.
In 2010, after coming to terms with his condition, Gavin started rowing and within two years, competed in the 2012 and then the 2016 Paralympics following. After retirement from rowing, he took up adaptive surfing and became National Champ in 2017 and 2018.
Like many adaptive surfers, Gavin has troubles finding boards to suit his needs. Daniel's love of shaping and building custom boards for every surfer, allowed both Gavin and Daniel with Des our shaper and shop guy to build the best board for his needs.
We wish all the best for Gav and hope he shares many fun sessions on his new board. The Gherkin Prone board is available for all surfers and their varied abilities. Contact DMS to learn more.
